A European career?
A Roadmap to Success
Did YOU ever think about working for Europe?
To work as a European Official means contributing actively to the achievement of concrete objectives in the interest of the Union, its citizens and businesses. Of course, not everybody qualifies. To be engaged as a European Official you need to meet the highest standards of ability, efficiency and integrity and have successfully passed an open competition. Such competitions, which cover various areas of competences (audit, public administration, law, economics, financial management, contract management, translation, environment, agriculture, secretariat, human resources, information technology, engineering etc) are organized regularly by EPSO, the European Personnel Selection Office and are published on its website. However, not many people have experience in this kind of selection process (also know under its French name 'concours'), let alone at the European level! This means that for many people taking competitions is a real hurdle to jump.
This Roadmap makes the difference...
This practical book explains in great detail the procedures underlying the open competitions, gives useful recommendations and guidance, explains the 'do's and 'don't's and is therefore a really useful roadmap in the European recruitment labyrinth. Furthermore, it contains a series of examples of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), provides samples of an official note, an executive summary, a speaking note, a briefing, a press release and a memo as well as testimonies from candidates of what actually happened to them. Equally, attention is given to what to do during the interview and thereafter. All this will help candidates unfamiliar with 'European' habits and customs in achieving their ultimate goal: to succeed. Moreover, it contains a 'survival kit' for newly appointed probationary officials and gives guidance on possible problems at all stages of the recruitment process. With these tools in hand candidates will be well prepared to participate in an open competition.
