This book is an invaluable companion for anyone travelling and holidaying in the European Union. It provides travel guides with rail maps and summary road maps for 27 countries plus maps of rivers and canals covering the countries that have extensive waterway networks.
If you are using your own transport, the book has key facts on driving regulations for each EU member state and useful advice for motorists. If you are using public transport the book explains the rail networks, urban transport systems and airports for all the countries.
It is a unique collection of travel facts linked to the author’s practical experience of travelling in Europe for over 30 years. In each of the country chapters there are sections on car travel, rail travel, urban travel, air travel and waterway travel. Plus separate sections for cyclists, motorcyclists, hikers, campers and caravaners with key tips covering these activities in each country.
The book has 28 chapters. The first chapter has extensive detail on travelling in the European Union with general travel guides and check lists plus four EU maps showing the borders & countries, major highways, railway networks and waterway networks.

The book is beautifully illustrated with over 60 colour maps and 320 colour pictures of travel situations throughout Europe.
The author spent over one year of travel research through all 25 member states plus Bulgaria and Romania gathering up-to-date information and vital first hand experience on what you need to know when travelling in each country. A further year was spent thoroughly researching the legal requirements and key facts for travellers in all the EU countries to produce this comprehensive travel guide.
