A Very Short Introduction
International Migration
There are more international migrants today than every before, and their number is set to increase. It is a complex and divisive issue: the subject of intense public and political concern, and the reality for many migrants – both legal and irregular – is one of exploitation and abuse.
In this Very Short Introduction, Khalid Koser shows why migration matters, and examines its fundamental links with globalization, development, poverty, and human rights. Presenting the human side of topics such a asylum, human trafficking, and cultural integration, he debunks many of the myths surrounding international migration, and reveals how beneficial it can be to economies both at home and abroad.
