Guidebook - Preparing Successful Project Proposals to Access EU Funding Opportunities

The support from the EU is usually utilized on a project basis. The outlook and preparation of the projects follows a very specific framework that is quite challenging for some. Also a specific knowledge of the various EU funding opportunities is needed, in order to find the most suitable programme that can address the needs and to tailor the project to the objectives of that programme. The undertone of the EU is cooperation and creating synergy, therefore the successful projects need to strengthen the existing partnerships and develop new ones. In the constellation of such circumstances the project management is essential, namely the internal communication, but also the financial management, monitoring and evaluation and not less the dissemination of results. This guide offers knowledge and practical advices on different aspects of the project preparation, partnership and management, as well as the funding opportunities from the EU. Also the guide offers a little bit more, a focus look at one specific funding instrument for one specific country.

The authors of this guide draw on their rich experience on preparing, managing and consulting successful projects funded by the EU, around Europe as well as in Africa, and on their expertise of the Macedonian EU integration process. Lack of knowledge and expertise is a core problem, among others, in utilizing the EU funds. This guide is intended to help future beneficiaries and other interested parties to overcome that obstacle. Readers in various countries will find it useful in terms of the various aspects of the EU funded projects, and readers in Macedonia will find it essential in terms of IPA funded projects.
